As you’re looking through potential engagement photo, you might feel overwhelmed with options. There are so many different ideas for clothes, settings, color schemes, props, even plots or story lines -- what if you just want, you know, some photos of you and your partner?
Simple engagement photos are a good way to get some pictures done for family members and the newspaper announcement of your engagement.

Don’t feel like you have to make a big production for your engagement photos if you don’t want to. Here are some ideas for simple engagement photos.
- Find a photographer with a style you like. Some photographers are willing to go to extremes to make memorable engagement photos; some like to keep it simple. Find photos that appeal to you, and work from there.
- Focus on you. Talk with your photographer about how you would like to focus on the two of you as a couple, rather than on other visual features. Close shots of your heads together make easy and simple engagement photos.
- Wear comfortable clothes. Whether that means dressy clothes or jeans and t-shirts, wear clothes that are neat but comfortable. There’s no reason to be fussing with clothes if you don’t feel like it.
- Keep the portfolio small. Let your photographer know that you will not be buying a lot of photos; find a small package that works for you. Keep the photo shoot short and you won’t have to spend a lot of time sifting through takes to find the ones you want.
Simple engagement photos are possible, and can help you save your planning energy for the wedding itself.
